Sat, 27 June 2009 Short blog this week as I spent so long recording I'm now exhausted. Yet again I seem to have got unexpectedly angry in this episode so it's another long one. I really need to curb myself sometimes. For the first time ever I actually edited down my links. Not a bad selection of videos this week Frantic - It's All You Raya Nova - Blood And Pride The Haiku - Your Question Is Important Idas - Going Down On WMVP this week a simple, haunting video for a great track. See you next week for hopefully a shorter show and a longer blog Category: Video Links -- posted at: 9:01 AM Comments[1] |

Sat, 20 June 2009 Whoa! I really didn't see such a long episode coming. I didn't think I had that much to say. Sorry about that. One reason for the length is my unexpected detour into the weirdos in the English Democrats. Have a look at this YouTube video which features an interview with the newly elected Mayor of Doncaster, Peter Davies and Toby Foster from the BBC Radio Sheffield morning programme. A brilliant example of an ambush interview. Also thanks to Caroline for unwittingly providing the title for this weeks show. She's the wife of Dave, host of The Bugcast. If you're unaware of the genius that is Idlewild here are videos for a couple of my favourite tracks: Idlewild - When I Argue I See Shapes Idlewild - You Held The World In Your Arms (The audio's really quiet on this vid) Pretty good selection of videos this week. The Kid606 video is a work of twisted genius. Modern Caveman - Johnnywise White Rabbits - Percussion Gun Kidnapper Bell - The Great Outdoors [Live Performance, with an extra track] Kid606 - Mr. Wobble's Nightmare On WMVP this week my new HQ production methods start in earnest and the first video to get the sparkly new treatment is an excellent piece of human-stop-motion that I've already written a guest blog for $99 Dollar Music Videos about. See you next week for another show, which hopefully won't be quite so long. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 9:01 AM Comments[0] |

Sat, 13 June 2009 A little bit of experimentation with my recording techniques this week means that a few of the links I recorded don't have the best sound. Sorry about that, but I've now sorted out the issues so as of next week the audio will be much better. In the European elections the BNP were voted for by just over 2% of the total electorate and they managed to win 2 seats. This is just wrong. No matter whether it's local, national or european elections ALWAYS VOTE. In 1997 Labour had 43% of the popular vote yet won 63% of the seats. In 2001 they had 41% and retained their 63% of the seats and in 2005 it was 37% with 55% of the seats. Proportianal Representation makes sense. As the episode title says this week has one of the highest levels of video quality for many weeks. The Dutchess video is particularly stunning. East Hundred - Slow Burning Crimes Dutchess - White Piano Normandie - Thrill Of Victory [Live Performance] Cowboy X - Japanese Toy Reigns - Everything Beyond These Walls Has Been Razed On the subject of high quality videos, I've altered the production process for WMVP, so this weeks episode will be slightly higher quality. The video itself is a great example of user-submitted input and was made for a very cool idea. See you next week. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 9:01 AM Comments[0] |

Sat, 6 June 2009 Anyone who listens to this show should also be watching Weekly Music Video Podcast. If you do, or have watched one of my 'Best Videos of the Year' podcasts in this feed, you know that cheap, inventive videos are my favourite type. That's why I am so pleased to endorse $99 Dollar Music Videos and be involved in whatever small way in the site. This podcast has one of those blindingly simple (if a little insane) concepts. You take a film-maker and a band, give them $99 and they make a video in 1 day. Despite the restrictions the videos that get produced are amazing. They also have a blog that features videos that they haven't produced themselves, but are 'In The Spirit' of their ethos. The first of my 'In The Spirit' guest blogs will be online Monday. As well a $99 Music Videos you should also be listening to The Justin Wayne Show, The Random Three and The Box Room. Small selection of videos this week. The Hot Beds video has an interesting idea, but is crippled by poor audio and shoddy editing. Underwhelmed - Freak (Like Me) In Isolation - The Wrong Girl Hot Beds - See Right Through On WMVP this week we have a weird green-screened video made by a comic book artist. Well worth watching. See you next week for more great music. Category: Video Links -- posted at: 9:01 AM Comments[0] |

Sat, 30 May 2009 I actually mispoke in the podcast. It's not Oregon that has the dual civil-partnership/gay-marriage-banned situation, it's Washington State (I always get those two states in the Pacific Northwest mixed up). New Hampshire has the same situation. As far as gay marriage goes Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont allow gay marriage and New Jersey allows civil partnerships with rights equal to marriage. 6 states out of 50. Fucking pitiful. These maps are very interesting to see how far justice and equality has spread. Same Sex Marriage In USA and Same Sex Marriage in Europe. I hope the fact I will soon start to have ads on the show doesn't turn too many people off. I simply can't afford to keep my two shows going without the free hosting that the fine people at LibSyn provide and the only way I can keep the free hosting is to have the ads. I think it's a small price to pay. Not much on the video front this week, but the Cradle video is a really nice piece of work. The Joy Formidable - Cradle Show Me The Skyline - Clocks & Calendars [Live Performance, Poor Quality] Rieser - The Actor [Live, Acoustic Performance] The Calling Card - Why So Serious? [Live Performance] On WMVP this week we have a really fun and unexpected video. Check it out on Wednesday See you next week and go Toffees! Category: Video Links -- posted at: 9:01 AM Comments[0] |
